Default First attempt at night time shots

One of the reasons why I took the plunge with the K-5 was it's low light capabilities. Despite owning the camera since the beginning of the year, I'd not tried taking any high ISO photos (barely taken any photos at all - now rectified after 5 days in Vencie)

Anyway, took the opportunity to take some night shots in Venice. This is an example taken with the kit 18-55mm, 6400 ISO, 1/25th at f8. The first image is just the jpg extracted from the DNG and resized. The second is a 100% crop. No PP, just straight from the camera. Be interesting to see what it looks like after a bit of PP (and a lot more practise!)

Looks a bit soft, but it also looks like it will clean up very well. Amazing to think that this noise (luminance vs. color) was at 6400 - my K10 looked like this at ISO 800, and the K20 had much more color noise at 1600, as I recall. Have fun with low-light pictures, I've gotten shots at 12,800 that clean up well.

I also got my Kr for the low light capabilities and haven't use it for low light. The PP from Catbells got me to look at my plugins and get a few updates. I think I will get a few night shots before I head back north to the rain. Venice seems like a great place for night shots lets see a few more.

And my attempt at a bit of cleaning up. Probably not good enough for a poster but compared to my old GX-10, it's fantastic!!!
