I'm very saddened by this. I certainly considered him a friend. I had been hoping that his absence was only temporary, but knew in my heart that this was probably not the case. Rest in Peace my friend, you have been, and will be missed greatly. Those of us who have been in this forum a long time will always reserve an honored place for you here.

It was only a few months ago that I sent him some xD cards for a Fuji S7000. I am truly saddened by this news, I knew he was ill but it still doesn't really prepare me for this news. He was a central part of what started here as a small but supportive group, my condolences and best wishes to his family.

Other Forum "old timers" have been absent for a while, too, hopefully not for the same reason. I know Roy was suffering for a long time. He tried to keep a presence on the forums as long as he could, so his absence lately had been ominous. He has been, and will be, missed. R.I.P.

I received a message from his wife Barbara. I feel I have lost a friend. It is strange how we can become attached to someone we have never really met. In our few emails there was a sense of familiarity. Good bye is always hard to say.

That is sad news, I don't visit this forum as often as I use to and my e-mails with Roy have dropped of quite a bit in the last year. I know he was very sick, but for some reason I thought he was getting better, obviously not the case.

A very kind and generous man that will be missed by all than knew him!

I just read this and it hit me pretty hard.

He was a good friend and mentor to me in many ways.

I truly am saddened and will miss my Friend.

I share the sentiment too.
From time to time Roy gave me idea in pp.
He was still doing some lens purchases in 2008 and somehow he got burned by a fellow in Toronto. I had knowledge of this fellow and alerted him of where the scam artist was selling his gears.
My condolence to his family & Barbara.
