Default Another (just about) BIF

I blame Harriet in that she has inspired me to get off my butt and get out there and take some photos!

Now all I have to do is to produce the quality that she (and the rest of you) continually achieve.

Anyway, from today's little excursion this is probably the one I like best. Except I might have applied a little too much PP. So the first is a 1600 x 1200 resized to 800 x 600 and the second is an 800 x 600 100% crop.

For those that want to know, it's a red kite and it's just taking off from the ground.

Edit: Sorry, lost the EXIF; taken with the Sigma 70-300mm at 300mm, ISO 400, 1/640s at f10

This is a super-difficult type of shot (at least in my experience). It looks really good, when it's reduced down to forum size it's very nice. Were you hand-holding? I find it difficult to get a picture without camera shake at 300mm, especially if the subject is moving and I'm excited about it. I love the bird, that's quite a nice one, I don't think we have them here.
