Default Another go around for the gear thread. What's in your camera bag?

Okay, I know it has been done before but we need to revisit it now and then, just to keep track of where we are. I didn't revive the old thread because it would be too long and cumbersome so here is a new list.

I should first note that I am not jumping ship (see my signature). I do have a Fuji S2Pro (antique) with a Nikkor AFD 50mm f1.8 and an ancient Nikkor AF 80-200mm f2.8. I only own this because it was the absolute cheapest way to get a professional grade 80-200mm fast zoom.
The Olympus purchases are a result of some incredible deals (2 bodies and 2 lenses for about the price of a K-01 with 40mm), and the desire to own a quality small camera (the K-01 cannot be described as small).
Now on to Pentax.

Here is my current list (as well as I can remember it anyway, it has been four months):

Cameras:
Mine - K20D
Annette's - K100D Super

Flash:
AF540FGZ

Lenses:
DA:
18-55mm WR
50-200mm WR
14mm f2.8
10-17mm fisheye zoom
35mm f2.4 (Annette's)

FA-J:
75-300mm f4.5-5.7 (Silver)

FA:
35mm f2.0
50mm f1.4
28-70mm f4
28-105mm f3.2-4.5 (Silver)

M:
100mm f4 macro
200mm f4

Takumar (K-mount)
135mm f2.5

Tripod:
Dynatran - a rather heavy Manfrotto clone

As you can see I still have a rather complete kit. (And I haven't included the K10D with 18-55mm, A 70-210mm f4 and two old Ricoh MF lenses that I gave my oldest son or the DL with FA 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 that I lent to my brother in law but will probably not ask for since his smal children are too fast for his point and shoot).

I am not a Pentax Fanboy but I have found their cameras have always felt right to me so I will keep Pentax as my "Big Serious" camera and Olympus will be my carry-around camera because of its good quality and small size.

Let the listing begin.

Evening Ira and Scott.....

I'll play too, since I have not really been actively posting here for a while.

K5,
  • DA 10-17FE,
  • DA 12-24,
  • DA 16-45,
  • DA 55-300,
  • FA 31 Ltd,
  • K 28/3.5 Shift,
  • Zeiss 25/2.8 Distagon ZK,
  • Contax Carl Zeiss 28/f2.8 Distagon T*,
  • Contax Carl Zeiss 85/f2.8 Sonnar T*

K100D,
  • DA 18-55,
  • DA 50-200,
  • A 50/1.7,
  • Tokina 2x

Spotmatic IIa,
  • SMC Tak 55/1.8.
  • Auto Tak 85/f1.8

I separated and grouped the items a bit differently. I essentially do landscapes and thus the focus on the wider focal lengths.

Overall, I think that I am done with equipment. In some ways I have too much. I am finding that manual focus is hit or miss - most very close, but not spot on. The last acquisition was the Zeiss 25/2.8 which I am finding to be very different. The focus throw is 355 degrees, with 180 of that from 6" to 12", and its really a landscape lens. I have been doing some - well for me - near macro, 6" and reasonably thin dof, which is very different. I picked up the K5 for a VERY good price new from Samy's and wound up selling my K20. The K5 is way more capable than the idiot behind the viewfinder is. The dynamic range and low ISO are wonderful. I just need to get out more.

The 10-17 constantly amazes me - very contrasty and extremely great colors. The 31 and the Contax lenses are extremely sharp and the resolution can't be beat.

Bet I'm going to leave something out. But I'll try to list it all by memory.

Camera bodies:
K5
K7
K100

Lenses:
DA 10-17
DA 12-24
SMC 24 f2.8 (a K lens, design predates the M series)
FA 31 Ltd
DA 35 Macro Ltd
M 50 f1.4
M 50 f1.7
DA*50-135
DA 55-300
FA 77 Ltd
Vivitar Series One 105 Macro
Takumar (it's actually a K-mount, no coatings) 135
DA*200
A*300
DA*300

I have two holes that aren't likely to be filled for a while (something weather sealed that's wide-normal, was going to get the 16-50 and something long, been thinking of the Sigma 150-500 but haven't decided anything yet). And a want - the DFA 100 macro WR. I certainly don't need it, but it sure has nice bokeh and I'd like to have it. So whenever the coffers get replenished, I'll buy at least one or two more lenses.

Frogfish I like the way you organized your list into "what would I pack for... ?", it gives more meaning to it.
