Default Snowy Owl

Taken at Parker Rive National wildlife Refuge in Newburyport, Mass. Many Snowy owls in Mass this year due to the warm winter. The hunting was easy and lots of food was available for them so they have stayed longer than usual.

Because of our trip and my wife's surgery I missed a lot of birding this winter but am trying to make up for some of it now.

This is the Owl when first seen.

Moving closer.

We are literally inching up on this bird. It is as if he is standing sentry over his territory and saying that's far enough stupid! Can't you read the sign?

This is as close as I got with the 150-500mm @ 500mm.

That last one is definitely the keeper! It looks like it is on Sentry Duty with that sign!

Nice bokeh on the image. Looks like you are mastering that Sigma lens.

I've never seen an owl in the wild...

Where's the snow? This is a bird I have never had the chance to photograph. White would not hide too well in Florida. Last photo is nice.

Great job stalking a very shy, very impressive bird. Thanks for sharing!

Great capture! Beautiful bird and certainly the last shot is a framer.

Wow! Great shot! I've never seen a snowy owl either, what a beautiful bird. I just love the composition, definitely on guard duty.

That is a nice shot, we rarely get them around here.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I have been a long time trying to get a shot of one of these Owls. I have seen them in my bird scope but they are usually far away and barely visible. To find one this close and be able to get photos was a real pleasure for me.
