Thanks, penolta on the information on the first duck. I knew the second one was a mix, but the dark first one had me more confused. I like your idea about the black background and lighting, I'll try that next, when I have some more time. I'm going to be busy for the next week taking lots of pictures of my favorite subject, so glass will have to wait.

Simon, what's interesting is that even though I have more variety of subjects than most, I'll look at mole's photos and get envious - he has much more variety of growing things. My forest is made up almost entirely of brush and pine trees. It's mostly the same color and never varies much. We can all be both fortunate and feel deprived with our normal surroundings.
