Many excellent shots this month, as always. My vote also goes to Kevin's beach photo.

Since it is a holiday in the U.S., let's keep the voting open until tomorrow (July 5th), if that's OK with all.

I could easily vote for all of them. It's an interesting collection this month, and an interesting discussion about each picture. I can't imagine shooting butterflies with something as big and heavy as the 150-500. While the 18-135 might be too short for soccer, it's an excellent choice for the weather. And the Kx's high ISO capabilities sure helped overcome using such a slow lens as the 18-250.

My favorite picture this month is Kevin's beach photo, but I don't find shooting with the DA*300 at the beach for a picture like this all that odd, I do it all the time. I've always liked the compressive effect, and Kevin's shot is really wonderful because of it. If the category was any other than "wrong lens", it would get my vote hands-down.

But since the category is "wrong lens", I'm going to vote for Lou's dragonfly. The picture is really nice, and I just can't imagine shooting insects with such a big, heavy, long telephoto lens.

Well, it looks like the votes are all in. Congratulations to all those who entered - some really fine work under less than ideal conditions in each of these. But there has to be only one winner, and it is...

Kevin ("Frogfish").

Important note - I got a PM from Kevin (sent yesterday) that he will be out on a birding expedition, and unable to submit his topic for July. He asked me to submit it for him. Will do so in a moment...

Thank you very much to everyone who voted and an especially big thanks to those who helped me across the finishing line. There were some very fine entries this month.
