Default Some Autos from Watkins Glen Int.

Went to Watkins Glen International to catch some SCCA racing yesterday. Always good to get a chance to practice the panning.

Nice job panning kept the cars clear, what shutter speed did you have the best luck with , I looked but the data is missing

Thank you, I really enjoy photographing auto racing when I get a chance.

Yeah, I'm linking off my google album so it's stripping the data for some reason. Those shots were all 1/200. I've tried lower at other events but found it to be too slow for my shaky hand. Around 1/200 works best for me.

Good job Mike - perfect SS and panning kept the wheels moving, blurred the background nicely, and the whole feeling of speed remains.

Great shots-reminds me of my mispent days of my youth-sleeping in the infield-hot dogs and Genesee for breakfast-just to watch the Cobra's and Corvettes. Had to wait for the races to be over because you had to drive over the track to get out of the infield.

Thanks Frogfish, I enjoy auto racing and ever since I went to see F1 at Indianapolis several years ago I've wanted to be able to get better shots, Watkins Glen is about 3 hours from me but well worth the ride for some of the lesser events (This one was $15 entry, kids under 16 free).

Thanks DMJJR, I wish I had been around in the days when F1 was racing at the glen. We stopped and talked to one of the crew for the 2nd place driver of the main race and he was reminiscing about the days of seeing F1 at the Glen and seeing Gilles Villeneuve race there.

Those were great times-about 6 hrs from my home in Pa-drove my '67 MGB to the Glen. The McClarens and Lotus's were kings of the road. Glad there is still some racing there.
