I likd the raccoon, too, but as a long time owner of Moose Dogs (=Elkhounds - see my entry above) I have a special affinity for the Moose, so I will vote for that one (It is an excellent capture and appropriate photo, too).

[As an explanation, the Norwegian Elkhound is a misinterpretation of Norsk Elghund, its original name. Our Elk (properly Wapiti) is the same as the European Red Deer, not the European Elk. The Elghund was developed and is used in Norway for hunting Elg. The European Elg (= Elk) is what we call a Moose, and Hund is Norwegian for Dog (the Elkhound and is one of the Northern Dog breeds, not one of the Hound breeds) hence Elghund can be translated properly as Elk Dog, or to avoid confusion in North America, "Moose Dog."]

Like Penolta I also love Moose but have yet to photograph one. My vote goes to Dane/dawg. The picture is stunning!

I also am very fond of moose, and though I see them occasionally, I have yet to get a good photo of one. Dane/dawg's moose gets my vote.

Okay. I'm really having a tough time deciding here. I initially like Simon's scallions. But, then the moose came along. And, then the raccoon came along. Raccoons and otters are my favs.

But, I'm going to have to vote for the moose. Much better head shot coming out of water than my shots of turtles yesterday in Newport. At least you can see the animal!

Let's keep the voting open until the end of today (September 4th) in your time zone. Will announce the winner tomorrow!

PS - Oops, I forgot to vote! Well, maybe because I'm having such a hard time choosing. Of course the Moose is an amazing photo, wonderful perspective, great story. But so is the Raccoon, and feeding time at the Robin's nest, and the anticipation of catching the squirrel, and... etc.

Will vote for Pboerger's grandson's delicious breakfast - such a classic mealtime expression!

Mole's vote firmly places him in the top tier of photography reviewers. LOL. The moose was a great shot.
