Default Destruction Derby

Our county fair offers the Destruction Derby on the last day and it is a one of a kind event that has to be seen to be believed. The idea is to crash cars into each other with the winner being the last car running. It's completely insane and a hell of a lot of fun. The guy with his arms raised is celebrating a great hit that put his car on top of the target. This batch had sharp post problems, but I posted anyway. KX Tamron 18-250.

ah yes the demo-derby... growing up in a town where the county fair was held every year I have fond memories of the demolition derby when I was a kid.... last time I went it was even crazier then I remember especially since quite a few of the drivers were people I had known in high school!

thanks for sharing it brought back memories!

Cool shots. I remember as a kid going to see these events that were then called demolition derbies. Back then it was usually the Hudson's that survived.

Great shots....haven't a demolition derby for many years. Whatever are these derbies going to do when the stock of late 60's, 70's and 80's big cars dries up ?

Your shots make me want to go again, They have a demolition derby every year at the county fair near the cottage, we go about every 3 or 4 years but haven't gone with a Pentax. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a scene from right here in East Tennessee! Great captures of the color and action!

They still have these? Always thought it was fun to watch them but figured that they weren't allowed any more, for some reason. Glad to hear there are still some around. And fun pictures, you definitely got some that show the flavor of this type of event.
