I was at Bodaga Bay today there was a flock of White Pelicans in the shallows after small fish. Took this with my legacy A*200 f/2.8.

Very nice! Appropriate to be photographing birds in Bodega Bay, isn't it? These do look pretty safe, though. Hope you aren't wilting in the heat, or is it cooler up there? It's supposed to be cooler tomorrow, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Today at 4:40 it was 58 F in Bodega Bay, and 85 in Santa Rosa 30 miles away, very strange weather. The White Pelicans are extremely large birds, much larger than the Brown Pelicans and they don't dive for fish, they just dip their bills in the water and scoop up their food as they swim.

Heading down there this morning, so hopefully it will be a bit cooler when I get there.

Very nice shot. I've seen brown pelicans in Florida, but I'm not sure that I;\'ve ever seen a white pelican. Thanks for sharing.

I was a bit surprised to see white pelicans in Bodega Bay - thought they were mostly inland. There were a whole bunch of them at the Salton Sea when we visited one winter, they are apparently common there. It seemed like all the birds we saw were white - several different egrets and the white pelican. Very cool.

Nice photo...I agree with Mtngal regarding her Bodega Bay comment about the Hitchcock movie 'Birds and photographing birds there.'.

Some lovely results with a fine old lens in some very capable hands - wonderful color and detail, and some amazing birds as well!
