As expected for a fine summer weekend, the falls were rather crowded, so it took some time and patience to get a few shots without any people moving through. The falls were much higher than usual for August, due to recent generous rains. Here are several views of the falls - which do you prefer?

Lovely series! Sure wish I were there with moisture and fog instead of roasting hot weather. Will fall never arrive? Of the water falls, right now I like the 1st and 3rd ones, but really all 4 are fine shots.

Nice images there, mole. I think the 1st and 2nd waterfalls intrigue me most. All the fog shots are amazing.

I agree -- another delightful series of photos. I've heard many people say that Roan Mountain is a "must see" place, and even in less than ideal weather, it looks wonderful. I also like the first and third waterfall photos best.

Thanks for the series Mole, even bad weather doesn't deter you from getting fine images. Nice work as usual.

Harriet - Glad you enjoyed the photos, and thanks for the helpful feedback. Wish I could mail you some of our cool damp weather...

Patty - Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed these!

MtnMan - Indeed Roan Mt (and surrounding region) is worth a trip at any season - a gem of the Southern Appalachians and probably the most scenic portion of the Appalachian trail. Jane Bald, Grassy Ridge, Hump Mt, etc. etc. You might want to visit this website: http://www.friendsofroanmtn.org/
Includes a flash slideshow by a local prof. photog...

Lou - Thanks for your kind words!

Lovely shots, I especially like the diamond necklace web.
