Default Theatre rehearsal, K20d

These were shot at high ISO with a K20D (not the best for noise) with a 28-105mm f3.2-4.5 FA lens (wide open). I thought that, given the modest lens and older camera they came out pretty good. Noiseware was used to clean up the files.

G'day mate

Yes - I can see that you're struggling with lighting etc
Compositionally - I think that you've done the best you can with the lens you're using etc etc

Regards, Phil

These look very nice Ira -- you did much better than I did a few years ago with my k20 at our son's college graduation. The ceremony was held inside a huge tent on a very gloomy rainy day. It took a lot of noise reduction in post processing to turn them into usable images.

Great expressions and captures of the action, and surprisingly good quality considering the dim light and limitations of equipment! (PS - what play are they rehearsing?)

The second one is really nice, but all are quite good. That's such a tough situation, and while I loved that K20, I realized that low light was not what it was particularly good at. And the important thing is that they made me want to go see the play.

Thanks everyone, the play was Sorry! Wrong Chimney!
The guy in the white jacket in the third picture is my son Matt.

If you want sharper, how about these shot with an ancient Rikenon XR 135mm f2.8 manual K-mount lens?
