Default Resetting to Default on Pentax Ist D

I have no idea what happened with my camera. I went to use it after putting newly charged batteries in, and when I turned it on everything appears to be in Russian or Czech. I don't know where I'm at in the menu or what any of it means, or how to set it back to default and start over.

Is there any advice on getting it back to English? Any help is appreciated.

Oh, I wish I still had my DS. There is a way of putting it back to English by pressing some buttons, but now I don't remember how. It's in the owners manual, I remember that much.

The other way that might work is to leave the batteries out of the camera for a week or two, but that isn't really helpful.

Here's a link to the owner's manual:

And the relevant pages:

Thank you Mole! I have my camera 'back'. It's tough to fix when everything you're reading is foreign. The visuals did the trick.

Much appreciated.

Well done Mole

And if I may add a follow-on Q
Mole or anyone else - do you know how to erase the owner / copyright details once they are set into the camera?
I want to sell my Pentax and therefore need to remove this stuff, but can't find anything in the manual

Regards, Phil

Linda - Glad it worked!

Ozzie - Not sure which Pentax you own (and hope you are selling it to purchase a better Pentax!). But here is the manual for the K-R:

http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/man-pdf/k-r.pdf

And here are the pages telling how to enter copyright info. Seems that the simplest way to take your name off the camera is to enter a different name (maybe just random letters, or blank spaces?)

G'day Mole

Excellent - another 100% on-the-button answer
At the moment I'm on-the-road travelling without the Pentax so will have to wait till end Jan to test it out

Thanks, Phil

If you are serious about the Ist DS-KEH usually has some good used bodies-about the #150.00 range. Bought a back-up about a yr ago-was rated ex+ was like new. Less than 750 shutter actuations.
