Default Black Silk : Free B&W Conversion Program - most platforms

I've just come across this - Black Silk. Bit late for this month's competition however maybe some people would still enjoy this free program. I gave it a run on a Mac and it seems to work well.

Mac/Win/ and linux versions all here ....as standalone or as a P/S plugin....

Thanks for the link!

Just tried it out on my Mac, and... it didn't work properly, lots of graphical glitches, and the edited result was saved... trippy and not even B&W lol

Hmm - worked great for me right out of the box. Maybe try a new download/install.

Tried a new download and got the same glitches, will download the plugin instead of the standalone app and see if I can get it working with Gimp and the Photoshop plugin tool.

Hi,

I'm one of the Black Silk's developers. We're currently working on the new release, which improves rendering performance and stability, but Black Silk is still in alpha and currently not suitable for commercial use.

The 0.3.0 stability depends hardly on your system's hardware graphics capabilities and we currently only support new graphics cards( that will change with 0.4.0 ). We tested 0.3.0 with the following graphic cards:
* MacBook, HD2000 Intel Chipcard
* MacBook, HD4000 Intel Chipcard
* Windows, HD2000 Intel Chipcard
* Windows/Ubuntu Linux, different types of AMD cards as well as NVIDIA cards.

We currently do not support MacBooks prior to the eight generation( late 2011 ). As well as performance and stability, this will improve with the coming release.

Make sure you, that you have installed the latest graphics drivers for your platform.

Greetings, Jesse Klugmann

Thanks for the reply!

Makes sense, my MacBook Pro is an earlier model and has the HD3000 graphics chipset. Will tentatively look forward to a potential fix, certainly can't afford a new MacBook Pro any time soon lol.

If you want an alpha/beta tester with an earlier MacBook Pro, would be glad to help out.
