Default Red-winged Blackbird Nest

This nest is in Wakodahatchee Wetlands. There were three chicks being fed by both the female (brown) and male (black). I had no great photos of the male feeding the chicks, I included one to show his participation. Two chicks were in the nest, one chick was on a branch near the nest but was still being fed as shown in one of the shots.

These are beyond awesome, Ed. I have to say, though, if survivability depended on good looks, these babies would not make it!

Hi Ed,

Very cool indeed. I'm absolutely horrible at finding nests. Capturing this with such detail is a very significant accomplishment.

Excellent work with the Bigma! I have never seen a female Red-winged Blackbird. Now I see one and thanks for sharing this wonderful series.
