Default Recent outing

Made only my second trip to Crex Meadows, our favorite wildlife refuge near Grandsburg, WI. last week. Here's a few of the pics to share.

Here's a Yellow Warbler that actually sat still for awhile. They're such "flitty" little birds.

Here's a couple pics of Yellow-headed Blackbirds..

This muskrat was enjoying a mid-morning brunch.

This is an Eastern Kingbird. They're small, but fierce fighters, attacking even people that get too close to their territory. Their binomial name is
Tyrannus tyrannus, and it fits them.

Canada Geese are a common sight everywhere, but I love watching how protective the parents are of their goslings. Also, how
well the goslings obey their parents.

Same goes for the Trumpeter Swans. Couldn't get "Dad" in the frame for this shot, but he was close. This same family is featured on my
entry for the June challange. Here you see six cygnets. Two days
later there were only 5.

Amazing capture of the warbler - you are so right about these birds being so "flighty!" Other photos also very fine - great color and composition, as well as fascinating subjects.
