Pentax K-3 Question
Can anyone verify for me that the batteries used in the K-3 are the same ones used in the K-5, K-5ii cameras? Will my batteries in the K-5ii work and fit in the K-3?

From the K-3 spec sheet: Rechargeable Li-Ion battery D-LI90

I don't know. I have read that the battery grip is different from the K-5 series. Don't know about the batteries.

I would email/ phone the American branch of Ricoh to be sure.

People elsewhere have confirmed that the batteries will work. There's something about the battery charger and older batteries, but I didn't quite follow it all.

got a weird reply from Pentax customer service. "If your not sure if your old batteries will work than buy new ones" I have spent a note of to two dealers that carry the camera to see what they say.

So anyone else that has been wondering............. Been confirmed by bhphotovideo that the batteries will work, but the K-3 is more power hungry that the K-5/ii series and will eat up the battery much faster, how much they did not know but their customers are let them know its an issue. They also confirmed if you shoot in 14MP mode you can get more than 60jpg/23RAW frames in a burst before the buffer fills since the buffer has been confirmed to be based on size not number of seconds you shoot (so you will get more smaller files before the buffer slows down or locks up).
