Default The Best of Rocky

He put on quite a show tonight and gave me some really different expressions. I was ready for him. The floodlight on and a couple of OCFs with fresh batteries didn't faze him in the slightest. These very well may be the best I've got of him. You can see the whole lot of them here http://toths.us/GJT/picture.php?/208.../15&slideshow=

This isn't what it looks like. He's eating corn and I think some of the fragments got stuck between the gums and cheek. He does look vicious, though.

He might look fierce in the second one, but almost cuddly in the third one. My one experience with one of these was in a campground, where I had trouble keeping a bunch of them away from our food supply (we were canoeing and the guys at the next campsite left dirty dishes out - attracted a whole bunch of them).

I am not a fan of rocky or his clan, but you got some nice shots. I had a family make a home out of my cottage basement on winter, what a mess in the spring

Thanks, y'all. I've seen what these guys can do when cornered so I stay INSIDE the house with the windows closed as I do with 99% of my wildlife images.

Gary -

You have posted so many wonderful images lately - sharp and clear and rich in information as well as beauty. Please accept my apologies for not taking time to comment on all of them!

My wife and I (together with a Sunday School class that we teach) have a fun but very time-consuming project this time of year - repairing used bicycles for children for Christmas... Have been too tied up with brake cables, inner tubes and bearing grease to deal with the forum much lately...

But had to add to the comments on your "friend" Rocky - in addition to the risk of getting bitten, remember that Raccoons are the primary carrier of rabies among wildlife in our region, and they also can carry a parasite in their droppings that can infect humans:

PS - As always, some wonderful "critter images!"
