Default Birds in Almost-Winter Sunshine

Just a few common birds, seen in passing while out wandering the sunny Tennessee hills...

We are blessed with an abundance of Eastern Bluebirds year-round. Even more in the wintertime, because our local populations stay here all year long, and the bluebirds "up north" spend the winters in Tennessee!

Some of our GB Herons are very bold, but some individuals are much shier.
This one preferred to give me a distant view.

On the other hand, here's the boldest PB Grebe we've seen yet this season. Seemed more interested in the Coot than in this "old coot!"

Finally, a few birds from a mixed flock. Many of our smaller winter residents "hang out" together - perhaps there is safety in numbers (more eyes and ears alert for predators). Here's a Titmouse, a Nuthatch, a Carolina Wren, and a RB Woodpecker all in the same little sunny forest corner...

Very nice! Amazing to get 3 pictures of the grebe, I've never managed more than one in a session. And I always love deer pictures.

Harriet - Thanks for your kind words, and for taking time to comment! That one grebe seems a bit less shy than the rest - hoping to have some time to "sneak up" on him with the 135-600 one of these days soon...
