Default Sill Branch Full

Recently had a few spare moments to check on the water levels up at Sill Branch. This stream, flowing out of Sampson Mountain Wilderness in nearby Unicoi County TN, is usually nearly dry by late autumn. But we've had a wetter than usual fall season, so Sill Branch held some pretty good flow.

Plenty of sandstone ridges make for plenty of pretty riffles along the way.

The main falls is about 40 feet high. At times of low water, it's just a tall drip. But it was flowing pretty well this time.

Here's a shot of a little detail in the midst of the falls.

Not enough time on this trip to visit the smaller, more remote upper falls. But hope you enjoyed the quick hike to the lower falls, and that you'll share some comments, critique, and suggestions.
