Default Some Roadside Scenes

What could be finer than a brisk bicycle ride along an East Tennessee country road! And there are so many interesting scenes along the way. Have been "out on the road" a lot these past few weeks, pedaling to various local schools to share nature discovery with the children. Here are some roadside scenes, gleaned from those few times when I remembered to bring along the camera!

Bee Blossom flowers only last a few days. Was glad to have noticed this patch right along the roadside, and to have time to stop and take a few snapshots.

Was able to rescue this fat green fellow from certain death under car tires! It's a Hickory Horned Devil, the caterpillar of the Royal Walnut Moth. We moved him off the road and into a nearby woodland. Last I saw of him, he was burrowing into the soil to begin forming his subterranean cocoon.

These tiny Eastern Tailed Blue butterflies were taking advantage of the warm sun along a country roadside. It's hard for a little butterfly to find any privacy, with all these nosy Rangers cycling the rural roads!

And the rural roadsides here in East Tennessee are also full of various Aster species. This patch was especially attractive to several native bees.

This Meadow Hawk hopes you enjoyed the visit to his country lane habitat, and that you'll share some scenes from your nearby roadsides. Thanks in advance for any comments & critique!

Hans- Camera slows down cycling as well as hiking!

The 50 is the FA 50 macro. Some say it's the sharpest lens Pentax ever made.
