Hello all again! I have been gone a long time after having a tough year..but onward and upward now! Like Mole..I got a new camera also..thought before I retired I better get one while I can afford it..lol.I found a great deal on a K-5lls and as fate would have it a sweet price on a DAL 55-300.Both for under $700 Cdn..I just had to do it! Anyways its a whole new ballgame doing this learning thing again (always learning) :)..Here are some of my first few tries with it...seems the Snowy Owls know I need practice..

Love the owl shots! They are such a beautiful bird! I've really enjoyed my 55-300, using it handheld a great deal of the time.

Congratulations on a beautiful new outfit!:)

Same System

I just bought the K5-iis in October-also have the 55-300 (bought about 3 yrs ago)
Some of the results have been stunning-others not so great-trying to figure out what is going on. A lot of shots have been "soft"-have to use "unsharp mask" to clear them up. Tried different techniques-none have been completely successful.
The one that has worked the best is shooing in Tv with a shutter speed of 1/1000-especially at 300mm-that indicates to me that it is not the camera/lens-but me. 99.9% of my shots are hand held. Hope you share your journey with the new camera and I will post also.
Thanks
