Default Great Blue Heron in flight

Shot with K30 and DAL 55-300, this bird was skittish it would get up and fly whenever I got to 300mm range, just couldn’t close to get any shots of it feeding or hunting. It just flew a little ways or in a circle overhead then land a little distance away.

Nice captures of such an elusive bird! I find they are the hardest to get a shot at..seems when I spy one and by the time I stop my truck they are up,up and away..

Well, you sure did capture some amazing in-flight images here! Great job tracking and keeping this fast fellow in focus!

I really like these - he might not have wanted to pose for you on the ground, but you did a wonderful job with him in the air.
