Default Arizona Desert Starting to Bloom

Hedgehog cactus starting to bloom in the Sonoran desert.
K-5iis using DA 55-300. ISO 400. Shot in RAW-DNG-pp Elements 5.0

Very nice, love those Cactus Flower colors. We have native cactus here in Wisconsin that can survive the cold weather, but the flowers are yellow. Tom

We only get about 10'' of rain a year-amazing how these cacti can adapt. Never thought you would have a variation in that climate.

Cacti flowers are so - I don't know - unexpected I guess. They are pretty and look like they should belong to a much prettier plant or something - not something with such spikes.

If only I had my macro with me that day. This was the best I could do with a superzoom. From the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix last year. Loved the desert flowers!
