You can also get a new K-50 with free memory card with full warranty from B&H...

The K-50 should be superior to your *ist in every way. For the price you want, it's probably the best option unless to you go for, say, a used K-5.

I shoot the K30 almost identical to the K50 for sports and think it is great with the DA 55-300 for soccer and baseball, the 18-135 for Volleyball and track and field. It is plenty fast and the view finder is super. Focus is quick but I find I pre-focus and also shoot continuous focus. The weather sealing also helps on those damp sports days. I saw the K50 new yesterday with a 18-55 and 50-200 weather sealed zooms case and flash for $450 at Microcenter. Amazon has body only for $300 NEW

I have stopped using Eneloop's because of their voltage-only 1.2 per battery-switched to ultimate lithium AA & got much better results. IMHO I would use the battery designed for the camera.

Back when I still had my K200D, I used Energizer AA lithium-ion batteries. I got like 1500-2000 shots per set. Highly recommended. But if the K50 is like the K30, it will come with a rechargable lithium-ion battery. Use that with AA non-rechargable lithium batteries as a backup. You may have to buy the battery adapter separately. No problem - it's not expensive.

I use the same battery in my DS-the total of 6 volts makes a big difference in my DS. Buy them on the auction site-half the price of retail-I can use lithium cr-v3 & they last even longer.)

I mostly use the LI-IO batteries that came with the camera and also purchased a spare. I also have the AA adapter you never know when you might need it.

Good thread. I just got a K-50 a couple of months ago, but as of yet haven't had a chance to use it for sports. I've been impressed with everything else so far. Also does a much better job with white balance than my DL.
