Could someone please clarify:

All custom setting such as ISO, manual WB, flash etc. are stored even after the camera is switched off, right? This would be particularly important in the case of manual WB, I find.

Will these settings survive exchanging the batteries? :roll:

Hi, yes like most consumer electronic products, the DS have got an internal battery to back up the time, and custom settings. As long as you don't take out the main battery and leave the camera for a few years, the internal battery should power the backup for quite some time.
