robar--I got mine last week and I completely agree! I am having a blast with this camera and I haven't even tried any fun stuff yet (night shots, macros...).

Using just the 'kit lens', I've had the *ist DS just a couple of weeks and am very pleased with the results.

I'd previously been very disappointed with Minolta A200 (poor focus & colour inconsistencies) & the Nikon CP8800 (no infinity focus on infinity lock & SLOW write times) so the *ist DS comes as a breath of fresh air.

Attached shot is Freshwater Bay, IW, UK

I just got my istDS Friday and love it! I also have had several Canons, but really like this camera and expect big thiings from it! My previous 35mm experience was with Pentax...and was always satisfied.
