Help!

I tried to mount a manual lens on my *ist DS and it did not rotate into position. Now the lens is stuck and I cannot remove it. It moves about 1/8 inch back and forth, but that is all. Any suggestions on how to remove? Thanks.

Don't force anything.

I suggest that you contact Pentax for technical assistance - checkout your nearest support center from the Pentax site.

I'm glad I resisted the temptation to fit my old M series macro lens - not that it's any consolation.

Are you also pressing the release buttton at the bottom of the lens housing?

can't imagine being afraid to mount the Mseries lenses. i've got 3 and they work marvelously. just like in the past--line up the red dots, twist to right, set f-stop, focus, and hit theAE-L button to set the time.

I have not had any problems with this lens on my other camera (ZX-50), nor have I had problems with my other manual lens on the *ist. But if I ever get this one off, it will not be going back on.

Anyone looking for a cheap manual focus 28-70mm wide angle lens?

I am sure the lens was lined up when I mounted it. I am pressing the release button when trying to remove. I was able to slide a .100mm feeler gauge between the lens and body and the pin is releasing when I press the button, but the AF drive pin does not seem to be releasing.

I am going to quit messing with it so as to not break the camera. It looks like I am going to have to send it to Pentax. There are no local service centers, and the only Pentax dealer in town would send it in also.

Ricoh mount lenses have longer mounts than regular Pentax mount lenses, which may cause them to jam in a DS.

Any recomendations on removing the lens?
I have a feeling that my local camera dealer will have to send the camera out to get repaired. I've only had it two weeks, but really hate to loose for another two.

Thanks

Getting a stuck Ricoh lens off a Pentax KAF mount has been discussed before. I saw it on both dpreview forum and on PDML.

Better info:

Good luck,

Perry.

Thank you snagglepuss!

The dpreview links helped. I used a feelergauge and after some wiggling and twisting the lens came free! WhooHoo!

Thanks everyone!
