I would like to buy a Pentax 1st. But I cannot find a lens with a greater zoom range (35mm equivalent) than 28 - 85 (ie the kit lens). I have a Minolta film SLR just now with28 - 105 - this range is whatI need (and good quality at that).

Does anyone know of such a lens for the Pentax? No problem with lenses for the longer focal lengths for obvious reasons (ie the 1.5x factor).

Plus - I cannot see if there is an image stabilisation system on this camera (so I guess there isn't)?

Thanks

If your want a good quality lens of a long zoom range then theh Sigma 18-125 in Pentax mount is a good walkaround lens choice....

No IS on Pentax, they do hold patents for IS, they just aren't using it?

IS - its called a tripod . Also, quite interesting - do a google for a string-pod .. i tried it out and it actually works quite well. It lets you get a couple of extra stops without having to use a tripod. I was quite succesful at shooting indoors with speeds of 1/30 with no noticible camera shake
