To use a M lens on the istDs I assume you just set the aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed in Tv mode.

Need to know quick as I'm in the hunt for some pentax lenses that a bud is now selling and I don't have my manual at the office.

I think I explained how to use old lenses in a previous post, but AFAIK for non k-mount lenses you will need an adapter

The DS only reads the settings on A lenses on its own, you have to do everything your self with M lenses including metering with the exposure lock button.

What sort of adapter do you need for those lenses, where can you buy one?

roxalo,

You don't need an adapter. just set camera to M, focus and before you shoot press the AE-L button. VERY easy.

Shot stays in correct setting unless you change f stop settings or move to area with a light change.

This whole process is simple and becomes second nature very quickly.
