I found that the Moving Object to be the only option in getting auto continuous focus.

Just depress the shutter halfway and point to whatever you are going to shoot and it will automatically focus on the moving object. I use spot focus as well in this mode.

I also decided to try and see if by chance the other modes do this. Nope.

I did discover though that when I was in TV mode (all others as well)that if I depress the OK button it would have MF come up on the screen and when I pointed to another area with the shutter still half depressed it would re-focus. It may be in the manual but I did find this to be a neat find for me.

Thats correct, the geniuses who designed it decided that people would only want it on moving object mode. Guess we will have to live with it or upgrade to the D

Depress shutter halfway. The camera will focus. Continue to hold shutter halfway. Press the Ok button in back. MF will pop up in viewfinder. Point again somewhere else and it will focus again. I tried this in other modes besides TV. Basically, I am cancelling the focus made by the camera.I am thenrefocusing without having to do it with re-depressing the shutter, but with the OK button instead.

I just tried this and couldnt get what you are describing to happen. Isnt it just easier to release the shutter and halfdepress again anyway?

It is easier but this allows manual focus as well without going to the switch.
