This would be great, although I don't had a problem with battery life, it would extend things I'm sure.

It seems that this is not a battery grip, but simply a portrait grip with room to store a spare set of batteries. It swings open under the battery compartment so you can change them out without having to remove the grip. Hooks up to the shutter release via the cable release socket, and also stores its own cable. Pretty nifty.

Edit: OK, seems that it is possibly a powered battery grip. See here for more discussion and a link further down the page for pictures of it mounted on a Ds.
