Help Folks-

I am due to leave for China on 05/24 and I am still looking for a great lenses in the 28mm or 70mm to 125mm to 200mm range. I need a lot of sharpness and a bright or wide aperture lens. Can anyone help?

The Pentax F or FA 28-105 lenses are nice and sharp, have good contrast and are fairly inexpensive.

Tom-

I agree that the Pentax 28-105mm is an excellent lens. The problem is finding one. No real luck so far

I was unable to find the Pentax 28-105 F3.2 any where. I have it on backorder, but that was the best I could do. I ended up purchasing the Sigma 55-200mm F 4.0 as my best alternantive.

I have the Sigma 28-105mm f2.8 lens. This is fairly inexpensive and brighter than the 3.2 pentax lens.

Why not go with this?

BTW, I think the original poster was looking for 105-200mm not 28-105mm lenses!

If you're looking for a prime, the SMC-M 135mm is an excellent lens & very compact. It's a 3.5, but imho it balances very well on the Ds and is the equivalent of a 200/3.5 view on a 35mm.

now, if you are looking for a REAL 300mm, check out this on ebay. i've already bid 400 and not met the reserve. this will definately go for over 1000. a photogs dream!!!
