I'm very excited to have raised sufficient ca$h on eBay to finance my imminent ist Ds purchase. As I already have several K, A and Screw mnt lenses, I will get body only & go from there into the wild digital yonder ..

My question is about the fill flash capabilities (or limitations) of the pop-up flash when used with K/M and "A" lenses as I don't have a single late modelAF lens at all! Anybody have any experience or samples of this?? Can the flash work TTL, or is it manual output only? If manual, can power output be adjusted??

I have recently purchased the Pentax *ist DS myself - I am using it with an adapter for my Pentax M42 (screw-mount) lenses instead of the P/K mount you are using. However, other than you having auto-stop-down capability, I believe the way the flash works for us will be the same. That is, the pop-up flash works, but since it does not know what aperture your lens is set to, it does not automatically damp itself down. I use it just like a manual flash - and it works fine for that. No TTL flash capabilities.

It may be different for P/K mount lenses, but I suspect not.
