I shot this young Great Grey Owl sitting on a road sign where he or she was looking for mice along a major highway.

I purchased it a long time ago for around $700, and now they are going used on ebay for somewhere between $800 and $1,000. That is pretty much in line with the latest Pentax 77mm Limited lens which goes for $700.

It is a great lens, small for a extremely sharp 300mm lens and the F series (I have the FA) is just as sharp but can be had for a bit less money.
