I have downloaded the Pentax RAW Plugin for Photoshop (PTXRAW01.8ba) and installed into the Plugins/Import-Export folder, but when I try to import the RAW .PEF files into Photoshop7 I just get the following message: Error - Unable to display preview.

The file will not open. Anyone fixed this problem?

My PC has Windows 2000 installed. The pictures were taken on the excellent *ist DS.

I believe that you need to upgrade to CS in order for the Plug In to function.

Thanks Catbells

Good to hear from a "neighbour" across the Solent. Your excellent photos helped me decide to go for the *istDS. (And also my collection of Pentax lenses and accessories)

I downloaded the plugin from:
http://www.pentaximaging.com/custome...tware?softId=1

The blurb says it should work on Photoshop 5 and above. Maybe it only works on the *istD, but I'm sure the PEF RAW files are the same on both cameras. I do get the "Import Pentax Raw File" option in my drop down menu (Photoshop 7.0), but when I select a PEF file, I just get the message: "Unable to display preview"

Just for you, here's a shot across Portsmouth harbour, taken 9pm this evening. Not a good example, but current. The I.o.W is barely visible, but is at the bottom of the rainbow, at the harbour entrance. I'll add some decent photos when I've had a chance to play with my new toy.

Maybe I missed something, but why don't you just use the Photoshop RAW plug-in (i.e. the one from the Photoshop site instead of thethisthing from the Pentax site).

It works beautifully for both Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements. I use it all the time with Photoshop Elements and the *ist DS.

Maybe I don't understand the issue?

The RAW Plugin from Adobe only works in CS or Elements. I only have Photoshop 7.0

It would appear that the Pentax Plugin for Photoshop works on all PS versions from 5.0 upwards, BUT will only work on the *istD (not the DS). I can't imagine why the two cameras produce different PEF RAW files.

I've written to Pentax, so will post their response here, if I receive one.

I can't find this plug-in on Adobe. Can you point me to it?

First post, Hello all!
I have CS2 and I can't get it to work either. Have tried the latest Adobe RAW plugin and Pentax plugin.

I guess it was the test pictures I had taken with the store demo DL. They wouldn't even open with the Pentax Photo Laboratory.
I've just taken delivery of a DS and everything is fine.
