has anybody else had the prob. of a completely black exsposure when they first start shooting? About 60% of the time I get nothing with my first shot and a perfectly fine second shot, and yes all settings are the same on both shots. And yes ... the lens cap is off. I love this camera but want to make sure this is not a consistant problem with the *ist ds. Thanks for the input

Post a shot along with the settings you used: shutter, apeture, ISO rating

1/640 f 4.5 -0.3ev spot meter iso 200 natural fine jpeg 80mm in a 80-200 pentax fa. taken on a sunny morning about 8am

Well that certainly is black, eep

I though it was just going to be a very dark exposure. Have you tried using any other lens? Maybe try using a slower shutter like 1/180 just to see perhaps 1/640 is too quick. Also try it on P mode for full automatic.

Otherwise get back to the camera store for a replacement

Thanks for the input, I'm thinking it is just an odd defect since the second picture at the same settings is fine - a trip back to ritz may be in order.
