Anyone who has used this new lens - what are your impressions?

Re: Pentax 50-200mm lens

I just received the lens this morning. My first photos look excellent. Also the lens is very compact and fast to focus. I am pleased with my purchase.

Thanks, Sarah - nice to know!

Has anyone else had experience with this lens?

Through today I have probably taken 50 photos with my new Pentax 50-200mm lens. All in all I am very impressed with its rapid focus (it works well with wildlife), it resolution and overall sharpness.

Hey Sarah,

What camera are you using this new lens on? Is it the Pentax *ist DS?

Can you post some of your pictures here? Thanks

Josee-

Yes, I am using the Pentax 50-200mm lens on my Pentax 1stDS. Here is a photo taken through a window on an overcast day at ISO 800.

Sarah,

Thanks for the sample. It looks pretty good, very clear and great exposure. I am looking in getting the DS and it is good to know how it is performing out there. I heard the Pentax DA 18-55mm Fs.5-5.6 that comes with the camera is not that great. Thanks for your input.

The kit lense that comes with it has it's quirks but I've taken some of the best photos I've taken in 30 years in just the couple of weeks I've had the camera. Take a look. These are the kit lenses. http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=80
