Working off robar's led ring light for use with robar reversed lenses, here I am making my one.

Ive decided to use 8 2000mcd leds and 4 16,000 mcd leds, so hopefully it will be alright at actually using it for taking pictures, not just being able to see things.

Ill post pictures of progress when i get started so people can make their own also (although its not really that hard anyway)

i don't thinl that will do it. on mine i used 16, 20,000MCDs and altho it works for pix, it's still just not quite enough. i figure it would take at least 24 of thhese high output LEDs.

what's the ''viewing angle'' of the LEDs you have??. mine were 20degrees and i had to bend them in so they would work.

They have angle of 15 degrees - so it might be a bit more directed and a tad brighter. Ill see how I go. Ill make sure i build it so i can change the less bright leds with higher rated ones if need be

I tested one of those 16k ones and it was bloody bright - i cant believe yours isnt working with 16 20k ones!

Ill probably do it on the weekend

Ok heres some pictures

I took some pipe that happened to be the perfect fit for my lens cap.

Drilled a hole in the cap, stuck it into pipe. Perfect friction fit, no adhesive used

Took the sink piece, cut it to a good length. What i ended up doing was finding a nice tin container, cut a circle hole in the base with the jigsaw. The sink piece goes thorugh the hold and joins with the pipe connected to the lens cap - this way i can easily dismantle it all, and all the shiny metal on the inside reflects the light a bit more

Here all the lens soldered in paralell. I have 3 circuits for the 12 leds, one resistor for each one (just to be safe).

I have the negative wire going around every one back to the battery.

Snipped the legs off and put electric tape over the lot incase it shorts on the tin.

Easily removed to change/add leds
