Sometimes i experience difficulty with focusing anyone ever experience this? It's not the camera I know - it's my inexperience with the camera and the 300mm macro.

I'm talking about the istD

I find it struggles autofocusing when there are alot of subjects to choose from, and in low light.



Forexample, when shooting into dense shrub or long grass, or subjects that move autofocus isnt too great so i manual focus. Changing it to single pt AF seemsto help sometimes.

Yes, especially in low light conditions with little contrasts. I usually don't force it and go immediately to MF.

There is a warning in the manual that this will happen so it is not unusual or unexpected.

if you are using AF for macro then forget it. it can't focus fast enough and you
can't hold still long enough. MF only for macro work.

Thanks everyone - I guess I'll have to work with that and see what happens. I have screwed-up so many shots lately, just because of that.
