I have recently purchased an istDS. I walked in to the shop as a Canon EOS owner and expected to buy the 300D but after trying the istDS which felt much better walked out a Pentax owner. I have not regretted the decision. I have had to buy new lens as my last Pentax was a Spotmatic F. I have just purchased a Pentax SMC M 50mm 1.4 lens on Ebay for low light use and am struggling to get the exposure right. I am generally over exposing and blowing headlights. I am using M mode and the diaphragm is stppong down for exposure metering when I push the AE-L button. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?

I have purchased a Sigma 70-300 APO Macro which I find a decent lens although rather soft and slow. I have to stop down to 8 to get a reasonably sharp shot. I would be interested in thoughts about other tele lenses that could be hand held. This is the biggest lens that I can manage easily.

Nice sunny winter day in Sydney. I will try to attach a shot of a Lorikeet in cherry tree in the garden.
