I have noticed many various faults being described for other brands of DSLRs,

but very few mentioned for the istDS. It is very noticeable on several forums.

Oh crap. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Anybody had an istDS (or other Pentax DSLR ) fail?

Dave

So far I haven't had any.

The likelyhood of anything failing is possible. The only thing I have seen posted has been the LCD screen cracking but that was only one incident. I have not heard or seen others like it.

Yep , I think that was the only fault I found reported.

Oh , and somebody's istDS came with no "menu" printed over the menu button.

Surely the difference in reliability can't be that big?

Nothing wrongwith my istDS. Very happy.

The only thing I might complain is the USB cable. The camera end plug is bit tight. Often I had to try a couple of times before I can plug it in smoothly. But on the other hand, a tight plug is better than loose contacts.

I had a weird fault in my first ist ds body that would record a black exsposure when the camera was first turned on. The camera shop traded it out - no probs since then.

My only fault was a dirty sensor. But they exchanged the camera for me, and the new one is pristine. Love the camera. The viewfinder is such a treat to use after using an electronic one on a digicam. What a difference!! Cheers......thekman.

mine is going back to pentax. the sensor has had a spot on it since day one. it's either the sensor or the shield and i can not clean it. i would have sent it in ealier but being with out it for a couple of weeks is going to kill me. i'll have to revert back to the fuji s7000 while it's gone. hope nobody complains if i post pix here using it..

How about the over and under exposure problems noted in replys in January to the
*ist Ds review announcement at the top of this forums page? No one seems to mention that anymore? Whats the story there?

i haven't had a problem except occasionally with ttl close up, off camera flash. i'm using a af400ftz. most everyting does sync but i guess the lighting thats apparent throws it off. here's one that worked well.

Mine did some pretty nasty underexposure- Just took a pic of the river w/ a P 20-80. I thought it was the lens-dunno how the thing actually works, so I just assumed the lens was the variable.
