love your photos of bees. just great. i had a pentax 1st Ds digital slr, but sent it back, as many other pentax lenses I had already didn't work in auto focus, and I haven't replaced it yet with another digital slr, but can't wait, as have masses of lovely 'in flight' photos on film, and would really like to continue in digital. bees are just so extraordinarily fascinating - have you read Maeterlink's 'The Life of Bees' - and also Fabre's study of bees - we are not alone.......... absolutely wonderful.
I miss my high magnification attachments, and may go back to using my old film pentax, until i can afford a good digitial slr.
i did find one problem, in that many nature studies that I took with the pentax 1st DS before sending it back failed to give really strong accurate colour reproduction, unlike the film photos i took which were consistently accurate to the subject, but again, thanks so much for your lovely photos.

i use ALL my manual focus lenses on the ist. what was the problem? you use to focus then , why not now. every pentax mount ever made will work on it..

well, here's to you. nice going. but why the attitude? check out metoo, who also has problems with the auto focus, and then check out problems in general with the pentax 1st DS on the web, and you'll see that a bunch of other people have problems with the pentax, including the flash being unstoppable, thus ruining macro work, etc..
and yes, i used a ton of lenses and i took them all over africa, and china, and got some magnificent photographs. but now, dear heart, i have some problems with the 1st DS and so do others. am sure you're a champ in your field, but i'd rather stay in mine,
in fact, you aren't quite right re: all pentax lenses working with this camera.
have a look at the pentax web site, and i think you'll see that even they write that this camera works with a wide selection of existing lenses - to my eyes, this does not read ALL, as you write, and they also specify that some functions may not be available.................
hey, none of us is perfect.
i was just paying someone a compliment.
:P

He shouldve said - Any K mount lens and every other lens with an adapter.

The only functions i believe to be unavailable are autofocus (if its a manual lens), and only able to use Av or M modes (again depending on which lens it is)

I've had pretty good luck with my ist DS after 30 years of shooting with Pentax manuals.

i agree. okay-SOME pentax mounts may need an adapter and may not auto focus because they ARE A MANUAL FOCUS lens--sheesh. after 30 years i still like pentax..

both my hands work but gosh-- i only have 9 1/2 fingers.. i have a very hard time shooting a pistol now left handed.. shit -lets bust balls about descriptions. and i haven't seen anyone here with an attitude except wotchagot.. hope you enjoy your canon or nikon or whatever...

i believe i told him '' great shots''

:P
