My wife disdains common garden gnomes, she prefers ornaments with a bit more character.

This was a test shot with my "new" Sigma 70-300 zoom, bought used from Ebay.

Nice and sharp, but perhaps try and get a bit lower to the ground to give the statue a bit better compositiion - if you have the impression you are looking up at it, it will look big and superior, if you know what i mean.

Also i noticed you took it at f/9.5, try shooting at something wider to blur the background out a bit to give the statue the main point of focus in the image
