I thought I had seen on this forum a short while ago, a write-up and diagram by someone on how to rig a home-made cable switch with a focus and timed buttons.

I can't find it using the search can anyone help? Please.

Thanks.

Thanks errno but that's not the one. I can confirm the cell phone headset works. Cut-off the mike before pluging it or you'll have the camera in continious mode because of the noise reaching the mike.

The one I was looking for was rigged so that it would also focus. This guy had two push switches.

EDIT: I found the thread I was looking for at pentaxuser.co.uk

I bought the cable release for the camera at Anderson Camera in Crookston, MN. He had one on hand, demonstrated it to me - I was impressed and bought it on the spot; it was very inexpensive, under $30 if I remember right.

Since it has your standard 3.5mm plug that goes into the camera, it occurs to me that you could go to an electronics store like Radio Shack, buy a 6 or 10 foot sound cord and add on to the end of it for a very long cable release, useful for capturing wildlife.

I carry what RadioShack calls a Hands-Free Headset Extension Cable. It's a coiled 6' cable that works just fine as an extension cord for my cable release. It was all of $7.

I was wondering what anyone thought about doing the modification on an extension cable instead of the actual switch itself. It should work just the same right!
