I've been trying out these 2 lenses for a couple of weeks. Ended up picking the 28-105 (f3/2-4.5). It was like new. Seems a much sharper lens than the longer zoomed brother. It was nice having the extra reach, but image quality made the final decision. The 28-200 seemed a lot softer, suffered more from flaring and almost dull in comparison to the 28-105. Both were used lenses so got it relatively cheap for Canada ($250). You can buy a new one in the States for about the same price, but by the time it's shipped etc, you're no further ahead. I've also started shooting mostly in RAW, and there is a definite advantage to doing so. Some shots would have been deleted, but the parameters for adjustments for exposure and colour correction are astonishing to me. Images seem sharper too. These 3 examples were in RAW, and processed on ps. Cheers...........thekman.

Yes it is easy to notice the difference, especially in the small detail. Plus being able to save a picture you probably would have had to delete because of exposure problems. I was actually pretty disappoihted withthe camerauntil I took the plunge and startedshooting RAW. Not now. Even the kit lens performs adequately shooting RAW. Now I just need to get a 1 g card.
