Here is a shot of an old Ford Pickup that seemed to look better in black and white than in color.

You take the picture normally and apply an incamera filter afterwards. I prefer to do it in photoshop myself.

It was done in Photoshop CS and not in camera! I find that gives me more control over the final product.
