Good morning all,

I'm new to this forum, but in the two weeks since I've found it, I've been here everyday and have read all the posts in this section. I do have a question for you SLR folks.

I'm getting the DS2 in the coming week (as a x-mas gift to my wife) and found a site that has a bundle pack. My question is as follows:

They have a 28-200 lens with one bundle and a 28-300 with another. Which one would y'all suggest? I read somewhere that the 28-300 might not be as good a choice as the 200. The price difference is $40 between the two, so thats not an issue.

Whats your take on this?

Thanks for your help, have a safe and happy holiday!

can you post a link to the item. questions, maker of lens, speed, etc.
i know that both sigma and tamron offer a 2 lens bundle 28-75, 70-300 for under $150us. i haven't seen any happy posts about the 28-300s. it's just too much range to ask for in a lens. the lenses above are adaquate lenses and you could use them to become familiar w/the cam and the type of shots you will be taking. the kit lens is a very fine preformer tho.

The $1019, and the $1049 are the two that I am considering. I'm actually going to call them in a minute to find out if I can make my own bundle kit seeing as there are a few things I do not need...like the case (already have a better one that theirs).

I know the site doesnt give much if any info on the lenses, but my guess is that the 28-200 is the kit lens, and that was the one I was leaning towards anyways...As a starter lens, I think it'll work.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me. You know, I'm really enjoying this forum as well as the people on it. It seems that most of you are nice and actually take the time to help others with questions, instead of flamming them for not using the search etc...

Thanks again!

I thought the 18-55 is the kit lens! I was told down under they were offering a Sigma lens.

Well, I did some research on the online store and read through at least 100 negative posts about the buying experience. Known as BestPriceCameras.com , the prices are great, but have read that they take all the accessories out of the box, and sell them to you. If you refuse, they delay the order for weeks on end.

Really, out of all the 7 pages of posts (about 100 of em) only one was positive. I've decided to buy elsewhere. Thanks for your help though!

I havent found a store that sells the DS2 with a kit lens. The only other place I've found it sells it as body only.

I found these different bundles. The vendor is so called check rated from Popular Photography Magazine. I don't know anything about them. Let us know how you made out. Here is the link to explain what check rated means. http://tinyurl.com/7r89z
