am i missing something?? i've looked and all i can find for the time the cam will stay in metering mode is 3sec, 10sec, and 30sec. i set up a shot the other day and needed it stay metering for a long time. is there a continuous setting for it that does not turn off??

if you use Bulb Mode... you can lock the shutter open as long as you want. It will stay open as long as the shutter is depressed. So the best thing it to get a cable release.

i'm not talking about exposure.....
i'm talking about how long the exposure meter stays on..

I think that is all the options you have, according to the manual.


I am interested in what you are trying to achieve as it does seem out of the ordinary.

sorry I mis-read your post... if your in manual you can hold don the AE-L button and as far as a I can tell the meter doesn't stop till you let it go...
